Based on the soon-to-be-released film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the latest Harry Potter title from EA Games to launch on the Nintendo Wii. Like the film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince follows Harry through his sixth year at Hogwarts. The game will allow fans to play through a variety of minigames, as well as explore the entirety of the Hogwarts grounds. With gameplay features ranging from Quidditch matches to duels and potion making, Harry’s latest should have something for every level of Harry Potter fan.

At this year’s E3, EA had the Wii build of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on display for fans to get their hands on. A variety of the game’s mini games where available to play, including Quidditch, magic duels, and potion making. The potion making mode felt very similar to games like Cooking Mama, where you have a set amount of time to utilize the Wii remote to mix ingredients and stir them all together. This minigame was pretty fun and should appeal to Wii fans looking to try out their inner apothecary.

The Duel mode was also pretty fun. By moving the Wii remote around, you’ll cast a variety of spells back and forth between your opponents in order to defeat them. You could do things like hoist them upside down, throw fireballs, and many other attacks with a waggle of the Wii remote and nunchuck.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince allows players to explore the full grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, meeting characters from the films, and searching for secrets throughout. The game’s developers drew from the blueprints used by the filmmakers, ensuring that the game’s representation is accurate and immersive.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is looking to be a title that fans of the characters and movies should enjoy, and one that gives you a feeling of what it’s like to be at Hogwarts.
